Nitrogen - The Alternative Air in Your Tyres

Tyre pressure

The molecules in nitrogen are greater than normal air used, so loss of the correct tyre pressure is reduced, this means the correct pressure is maintained.

Nitrogen reduces the running temperature of the tyre. These 2 combined things can mean up to a 25% increase in tyre life, and a 5% reduction in fuel consumption, with a reduction in CO2 emissions, a vitally important consideration in todays environment.

Wheel & Valve Anodisation & Rust

Oxygen has water content which reacts with the tyre and rim materials causing oxidation or rust in wheels and valves. Nitrogen being an inert gas does not react in this way and there is no condensation build up. This in term, leads to less air leaking out from the wheel rim.

Nitrogen has been widely used for many years in the aviation sector, in aeroplane tyres, etc, and is used with great success in all forms of motor sport, especially racing cars.

Nitrogen is now available to all motorists and should you have any queries or reservations about its use in your car tyres, please don’t hesitate to ask a member of our staff who will be happy to answer your questions.
